Independence Day & Raksha Bandhan

Days such as the Independence Day are instrumental in renewing our infinite gratitude towards the martyrs who relentlessly sacrificed their lives to ward off darkness and oppression. At AVRS, the National Day was celebrated to further affirm this sense of patriotism, coupled with awe and silent, unquestioned obedience towards the greater purpose of the Nation.

Incidentally, this year in 2019, the Independence Day historically coincided with the unique festival of Rakshabandhan which originated when sisters tied protective bands on their brothers’ wrists who ventured out into battle, to safeguard them against all evil and ensure they return home safe and victorious.

The multi-talented students of AVRS put forth a spectacular display of cultural events to express their pride towards their Vatan, their Motherland. Numerous students also presented marvellously construed speeches in various languages to highlight the importance of this day of national pride.

Subsequently, the Principal of AVRS, Poraiyur Branch rendered an inspirational speech reminding one and all to cherish this freedom obtained at the cost of unimaginable sacrifices, turmoil and bloodshed.

To mark the closure to the day’s wondrous celebrations, the National Anthem was sung with great fervour and pride, a tribute to the past, a pledge for the present and a promise for a new tomorrow.
